U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., cosponsored bipartisan legislation to reauthorize critical federal programs that promote autism spectrum disorder research, education and supports.
The Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education and Support (CARES) Act, led by U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, D-N.J., provides updates that strengthen the Autism CARES Act programs to ensure they consider the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities throughout their lives.
“This legislation continues the good work of the Autism CARES Act, which promotes research, education and awareness into autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities,” Enzi said. “It is important that we improve our understanding of the causes and symptoms of autism spectrum disorder and that we find solutions to improve the lives of those affected by it. The Autism CARES Act programs serve a critical role in that mission, and this bill will ensure they do not expire.”
