U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., issued the following statement today in response to Representative Cynthia Lummis’ announcement that she will not seek re-election in 2016.

“I'm sorry to hear that Cynthia Lummis is retiring from Congress after 2016. Cynthia has done a marvelous job. She has worked vigorously for America and for Wyoming. Her ability has magnified her voice and her vote. She is known on both sides of the aisle and gets things done. She has been an essential part of our Washington team using her agriculture, business, legal, legislative and state treasurer background to make a big difference.

“Her ability combined with her infectious laugh makes up a winning personality. She listens and then shares ideas in such a way that people often think it was their idea - which is one of the best ways to get support. She travels around Wyoming most weekends so she can relay the Wyoming common sense she hears when she goes to Washington. Her previous legislative experience made it possible for her to be successful from the moment she got here.”
