Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., urged Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., not to end debate on an economic stimulus bill and pull it from the Senate floor without a vote.

"I would be disappointed if Sen. Daschle decided to give up on an economic stimulus package," said Enzi. "The economy is improving, but that's no reason to sit on our hands and hope it continues on the road to recovery. Each senator has his or her own opinion on what should and shouldn't be in the stimulus package, but that's true with every piece of legislation. I hope he lets the members of his own party who want to work with Republicans work with us. I really think we are making progress and could, if allowed to by the majority leader, come up with an agreement that would be acceptable to a bipartisan majority. Maybe that is what the majority leader fears."
