U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., released the following statement on the directive today from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt to end the agency’s “sue and settle” practice.
“Our country does not benefit when the EPA ignores its mandates from Congress in order to make deals behind closed doors with environmental interest groups at the expense of the American taxpayer,” Enzi said. “I am glad to hear that the agency is attempting to undo the dangerous practices of ‘sue and settle’ set under the Obama Administration. Transparency at the EPA will allow more voices to be heard and make it easier for states, Congress and the people to hold the agency accountable. It shouldn’t be controversial to know what the EPA is up to.”
