Washington, D.C. – Carbon County is set to receive grant funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for airport improvements, according to U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo. The Dixon Airport will receive grant funding of $1,393,530 to be used to rehabilitate a runway and install an automated weather observing system to help better identify weather conditions in the area.

The grant, from the Airport Improvement Program (AIP), is part of an overall effort to assist with airport maintenance, planning and repairs in Wyoming. The AIP provides funding to airports to assist them in development and planning. Airports are able to use the money on projects that support aircraft operations including runways, taxiways, aprons, noise abatement, land purchase, safety and emergency or snow removal equipment.
