SENATOR ENZI:
This is a special time of year.  It’s the holiday season and it happens every winter.   You would think it’d get old after a while.  But, no matter how many of them we’ve seen in our lives, each time we see the snow, hear our favorite holiday songs and think about family and friends, somehow it seems to magically all become new again.

DIANA:
Signs of the season are appearing:  lights – reds and greens – pine trees and wreaths, bell ringers.  They’re all expressing the message of the season – Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.
The theme was written for us over two thousand years ago when the birth of a small child in a manger changed the world.  We still remember and celebrate that moment in time and its impact continues to be felt.

SENATOR ENZI:
It’s remarkable how this special holiday season can bring about such a profound change in our hearts.  The lesson it teaches serves as a reminder that the greatest gift we have in life isn’t something we bought at the local store, but the treasures of family, and friends.  It’s the feeling of hope and trust in our God, and our love for our country.

DIANA:
That is what’s at the top of all of our Christmas lists because that’s where we find the blessings of the holidays that will last until we once again welcome the days of winter and the beginning of another holiday season.
Here are our Christmas suggestions for this year –

SENATOR ENZI:
For all the children – our time, our patience and our encouragement with their homework or careers and support in solving their problems –

DIANA:
For our friends – our caring, our concern, and our friendship in return for theirs –

SENATOR ENZI:
For our communities – our willingness to give a healthy dose of our talents and our abilities so that we can make the place where we live just a little better than it was last year –

DIANA:
For each other – our respect and our willingness to forgive and forget – and a promise to treat all those we meet as they would wish to be treated –

SENATOR ENZI:
The best thing about this Christmas list is that it will help you to make the world a better place starting right in your own back yard – and best of all, it won’t cost you anything but a little more of your time.

We wish all of you a very happy holiday season.  However you choose to celebrate it, may it be the best ever, and may the coming new year bring the happiest of days for you and for all those you love.
