U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., issued the following statement following an announcement by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that the Grey Wolf was being removed from the Endangered Species list in the Western Great Lakes region:

“I am pleased that the Obama Administration has once again recognized that wolves are recovered in states like Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. I do, however, find it puzzling that this announcement was made just days after vigorously fighting against Rep. Lummis’ provision in the House Interior Appropriations bill that would have prevented frivolous lawsuits against state management plans in Wyoming and the Great Lake States. I hope the administration will be able to stop its environmental allies from suing over this announcement as well as the announcement that will pave the way for Wyoming to manage its wolf populations. States should manage their wolf populations and I will continue to work until that is a reality for Wyoming.”
