Washington, D.C. – “When our nation’s veterans heard the call to service, they answered with great pride and love of their country,” said U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo. Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day and Enzi is asking all Americans to take the time to honor those who have fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice to serve and protect our country.
“Each year on this day we remember those whose willingness to serve our communities and our country has made a difference in all our lives. Thanks to their efforts, our safety and security has been safeguarded here at home and all over the world,” said Enzi. “Some of them never returned home and we remember them in a special way this day. Giving their all, wherever they served, they were models of what it means to be a member of the American Armed Forces.”
Since the Civil War, Memorial Day has been reserved to recognize, respect and honor America's sons and daughters who died serving their country.
“Diana and I join with all our friends, family and the people of Wyoming in expressing our heartfelt appreciation to all those who have served or are serving in our nation’s Armed Forces,” said Enzi. “Thanks to them, their families and all those with whom they served, we have received the blessings that come from our citizenship and our American way of life.”
