Washington, D.C. --A big step has been taken on the path toward a longer runway for Dubois' airport, the Wyoming congressional delegation announced Wednesday.

U.S. Senators Craig Thomas and Mike Enzi and Rep. Barbara Cubin notified town officials Wednesday of Department of Transportation plans to award a $203,000 grant for the acquisition of land and easements needed in order to extend the Dubois Municipal Airport runway.

Acquisition of the land and easements are necessary to bring the airport up to higher standards and to plan for a future access road, according to the U.S. DOT.

The delegation offered congratulations and expressed hope the project would better prepare the town for the future and increase safety for airport users.
